RDC is proud to present the visionary design of the Shazhou Yellow Wine Cultural Center, situated in Zhangjiagang along the scenic Yangtze River, an hour and a half away from the bustling metropolis of Shanghai. This transformative project celebrates and teaches visitors about the rich cultural heritage of yellow wine, a Chinese alcoholic beverage made from rice.

RDC is the master planner, architect, and landscape architect for the project. Our design ethos envisions an industrial tourism destination that seamlessly integrates with existing production facilities while becoming an iconic landmark for Zhangjiagang. Drawing inspiration from Jiangnan architectural elements and modern Chinese abstractions, the project’s entrance pavilion serves as a beacon of the region’s bright future rooted in centuries of tradition.

Yellow Wine Cultural Influences

Cultural Integration

Embracing the essence of Jiangnan Watertown, the project seamlessly blends traditional architectural elements with modern design principles, underscoring the integral role of yellow rice wine in the region’s cultural tapestry. By preserving and showcasing the heritage of Chinese brewing culture, the project serves as a testament to the Su tradition’s history, culture, and production techniques.

Planning Concept

The project’s layout revolves around two primary districts: an industrial/cultural cluster and a commercial hub, interconnected by a central public axis. Through the juxtaposition of traditional and contemporary architectural typologies, we aim to create a dynamic yet harmonious environment that bridges the gap between past and future, offering visitors an immersive cultural experience.

Sustainability & Wellness

Central to our design philosophy is a commitment to sustainability and wellness. The project incorporates sustainable site planning and construction methods, including the utilization of reclaimed materials, passive cooling systems, and landscaped areas to mitigate the heat island effect. Moreover, the park features recreational spaces and amenities aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles for both visitors and employees alike.

Social Contribution & Advancement

Aligned with national industrial policies, the Shazhou Youhuang Culture Park serves as a beacon of Chinese pride and heritage, elevating the cultural significance of yellow rice wine on a global scale. By promoting the culture of yellow rice wine and enhancing product competitiveness through research and development, the project fosters economic growth and cultural advancement within the region.
